APPI Council Candour
APPI Council held yet another virtual meeting on October 25, where the following items were discussed:
• On October 21, APPI announced the recipients of the 2021 Planning Awards and you can still view the presentation and highlight reels here: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/recording/2041286636724898573. If you know of or have participated in a ground-breaking or super successful project, please consider submitting a nomination for next year’s awards.
• APPI events over the past several months have been popular and more are on the way, so there are still opportunities to obtain CPL credits before the end of the year. For example, APPI is hosting a lunch-hour Coffee Break on November 24 , a webinar with FireSmart Alberta on November 25, a webinar on Intermunicipal Collaboration on December 2, and a screening of “The Great Disconnect” with Q & A on December 9. You can also watch APPI 2021 Conference sessions that you may have missed during the event by subscribing here.
• Pre-planning for our 2022 Conference is under way and if you would like to volunteer for the Conference Committee, please contact APPI Administration. This is a great way to expand your professional network and earn CPL credits at the same time.
• As at every Council meeting, we looked carefully at APPI’s financial position – we’re still in good shape! – and Council has approved the 2022 budget, recognizing ongoing volatilities and uncertainties in our commitments to the Institute and the membership.
• Council also reaffirmed our commitment to pursuing a long-term journey of Truth & Reconciliation on behalf of the Institute, by listening and reflecting on Indigenous stories and events as they emerge, and by engaging in additional awareness training sessions on a regular basis.
• Council is looking forward to connecting or reconnecting with APPI’s members and planning students in person, as soon as we are able, so please watch for announcements of our annual social events over the coming months, as Covid-19 precautions allow.
If you have any questions or comments on what was shared in this Council Candour do not hesitate to contact APPI Council through MaryJane Alanko, APPI Executive Director [email protected].
