APPI Council Candour
Council met virtually for the first time in 2022 on February 2nd. Here are some of the highlights from the meeting:
• Council reviewed the Financial Report, maintaining a close watch over monthly income and expenses in order to track any emerging issues or financial trends. Variances were noted as more members renewed membership with APPI in 2021 than budgeted. Since 2018, APPI’s membership has remained steady hovering around 1,000 members.
• Council will retain the Metrix Group to conduct the 2021 APPI unaudited financial review.
• Administration reported that progress was being made on the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
• The Call for Nominations for Council Election was released on January 19, 2022. The 2022 Council election be conducted via electronic balloting.
• Council has committed to identifying opportunities with respect to the journey of Truth & Reconciliation. It was suggested that the book, '21 Things You May not Know about the Indian Act: Helping Canadians Make Reconciliation a Reality' by Bob Joseph is an excellent starting point in this journey. Council is exploring the opportunity to host a facilitated book club to discuss this book. Keep an eye on the E News.
• APPI Annual General Meeting - The 2022 AGM scheduled for April 28, 2022 will be held virtually. Council is exploring opportunities to host a moderated educational opportunity in addition to the AGM. Members are encouraged to email suggested topic discussions to MaryJane Alanko at [email protected].
