The Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations is a political advocacy organization, representing the interest of 16 First Nations who are signatories to Treaty No. 6 in Alberta. The Confederacy is dedicated to ensuring that the terms, spirit, and intent of Treaty Six are honoured and respected. Learn more about the Confederacy’s work to uphold and protect Treaty Rights as it relates to planning within the territory through the relationships we are building with other orders of government, non-profits, and private business. Miranda Jimmy is a passionate Edmontonian and member of Thunderchild First Nation. She is a community connector, a fierce defender of truth, and is committed to the spirit and intent of the Treaty relationship. Miranda has made a career in the arts and heritage sector, working with many different non-profit organizations, Nations, governments, and private businesses. She has training in arts and cultural management, conflict resolution and negotiation, and communications. Her career has focused on building bridges between governments & non-profit organizations and First Nations & other historically excluded communities, advocating for decolonization and self-determination. Miranda currently works for the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations as the Municipal Affairs Coordinator. In this role, she manages the ongoing relationship with the City of Edmonton and other municipalities and related agencies across Treaty No. 6 in Alberta. Through this work, Miranda is working to deepen understanding of Treaty Rights as it relates to urban challenges, like affordable housing, services for the unhoused, and land use planning.
