Job Postings

The current outlook for employment opportunities for planners in Alberta continues to be positive.

Job postings are available for viewing by the public under the Employment section.

For the most part planners with little or no experience generally secure employment outside of the major centres and then they are able to move into the larger urban municipialities. We anticipate a lot of senior managers will continue to retire in the upcoming years, and those vacancies will need to be filled with planning school graduates, planners in current positions, planners from outside of Alberta, individuals who do not have a degree in planning, foreign qualified planners or by fast tracking the career advancement of “junior” planners.

Research planner and related job position descriptions (and availability) online by choosing a municipality and searching their career sections. Research using the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta web site career sections.

Refer to the Resources (link this) section for further information on other professional organizations, educational institutions, government agencies and other related organizations.
